K11 Art Foundation Signs a 3-year Cooperation Agreement with PALAIS DE TOKYO

(Shanghai, January 15, 2014) K11 Art Foundation, a not-for--profit organization with a mission to boost the development of Chinese contemporary art, today announced that it has signed a three-year cooperation agreement with PALAIS DE TOKYO to jointly promote contemporary art through a series of co-curated exhibition tours that aim to nurture and bring Chinese contemporary artists to a broader audience.

The agreement covering the extensive and comprehensive collaboration between K11 Art Foundation and PALAIS DE TOKYO, a leading institution for contemporary art, not only comes amid the 50th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations, but it also marks one major step in artistic collaboration between the two countries. The collaboration is another important effort by the K11 Art Foundation towards furthering the development of Chinese contemporary art. It will provide a crucial platform for more young Chinese artists to showcase their artistic talent and Chinese culture, and new links will be created with French artists through the international platform created by this 3-year program.

The cooperation between K11 Art Foundation and PALAIS DE TOKYO will include interesting initiatives. There will be a cultural exchange tour to artists’ studios at K11 Artist Village in Wuhan and Guiyang, where the works of the Chinese artists will be selected by K11 Art Foundation and PALAIS DE TOKYO. A Chinese curator will also be visiting young French artists in May 2014. The artists will be presented as part of the 1-month co-curated exhibition in PALAIS DE TOKYO starting from October 2014, which will then be brought to China. A series of international contemporary art exchange programs will be arranged by both parties in China and Paris.

As partner of K11 Art Foundation, PALAIS DE TOKYO is well known for enhancing, promoting, and supporting contemporary art development, especially in visual arts. Reopened in 2012 and dedicated to contemporary art, PALAIS DE TOKYO welcomes today’s generation of artists.
